NO SURPRISES ACT + GOOD FAITH ESTIMATES

Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate

Under the federal No Surprises Act, individuals who do not have health insurance or who choose not to use their insurance benefits have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the anticipated cost of their healthcare services.

Sunshine Psychiatry & Wellness is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. We are committed to providing clear, transparent information about the cost of care.

What is a good faith estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate outlines the expected charges for scheduled healthcare services, including psychiatric evaluations, follow-up appointments, and psychotherapy.

Your estimate will reflect the services reasonably anticipated at the time it is prepared. Because treatment recommendations are individualized, the frequency and duration of future appointments may not be known until after your initial evaluation.

A Good Faith Estimate is not a bill or a commitment to receive treatment.

When will I receive my estimate?

Good Faith Estimates are provided in accordance with federal requirements.

  • Appointments scheduled at least 3 business days in advance: An estimate will be provided within 1 business day of scheduling.
  • Appointments scheduled at least 10 business days in advance: An estimate will be provided within 3 business days of scheduling.
  • Upon request: You may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services. An estimate will be provided within 3 business days of your request.

When appropriate, estimates may cover a series of anticipated appointments over a period of up to 12 months.

What if my bill is higher than my estimate?

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to dispute the charges through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.

You generally have 120 calendar days from the date of your initial bill to initiate a dispute.

You may also contact Sunshine Psychiatry & Wellness directly to discuss any questions or discrepancies regarding your charges.
